Times have changed, new things have been introduced and I have come across new businesses I’d like to share with you. Its always advisable to have a little hustle by the side while you’re at your dream business.
Instead of staying stuck at your 9 – 5 job where you are always complain, you should look for new opportunities. Below is the list of ideas I have been able able to put together.
1.) Shop for others
This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio. You can do grocery shopping for others, make it your brand and not necessarily have to pay a cut to any app or company.
One of the things that used to happen to me when I did personal grocery shopping with shipt is I would shop for people over and over. Once they started getting me repeatedly, they would be used to having me doing their shopping for them and would want to contact me directly each time they want grocery shopping.
So you can develop you own portfolio There are many people you could ask about how you can build your portfolio to do grocery shopping for others without going through the app.
You can actually do shipt or instacard if you want looking for apps to start up with.
2.) Be an Extra in a movie or TV show
This is one of those things that I really want to do not because I need the money or want the money, but just because I want to take it off my bucket list. So even if you want to do this for fun, go ahead and do it because I want to see myself on the big screen.
So, if you live in a big city like Atlanta for example, LA, there are casting calls like crazy plus to can walk into a Typler Perry’s studio and get an extra part. There are actually websites where you can sign up for movie auditions you could find out about that, there are also casting directors on tiktok who literally only post on tiktok to recruit people for shows and movies.
Basically, you should look out for casting calls. They pay for roles even if what you do is a little action in the background, if you have to go in to get your hair and makeup done, they’d pay you even more for that.

3.) Transcribe videos and podcasts
On YouTube, there is something where when you are uploading your video, they ask you if you have a transcription file and if you do, it allegedly helps your video performance.
People who have YouTube channels are interested in having their videos transcribed and having it be correct. If you don’t mind watching someone’s video or actually listening to someone’s video and just typing what it is that they are saying, especially if you type fast, that’s a good way that you can make some money and the same thing goes for podcast, because a lot of people who have podcast jot it down to turn it into a blog or some kind of email to promote their podcast.
So, if you can type very fast and you do not have a problem listening to their hour long podcast, then go ahead and get that bag!
4.)Work for Amazon Flex
Amazon is taking over right now, it is to the point where I can order something on Amazon now and get it in a few hours and because Amazon is taking over, they need a lot of manpower to actually get these deliveries out to people in a timely manner. How you can help is by being a part of their manpower.
Word on the street is that they start at about $18/hour. Amazon Flex allows you to pick up shifts and drop them as you please.
So if you have a car, you have some free time, people literally deliver overnight now. So even if you don’t have the time during the day, you can switch on at night and deliver some stuff for about 4 – 5 hours and go home.
5.) Design Worksheets and Templates
If you have a graphic designer type of talent, the you can design worksheets and templates. If you are really good with photoshop, even if you are really good with canva and you know how to design workbooks, worksheets things like that, you can develop them into templates. You can create flyer templates and you can list them on sites like creativemarket where you can get paid for your templates.
Obviously, creativemarket takes a portion of that but then you get the remaining of that. All you have to do is be creative and do what you know how to do really well. A lot of people on creativemarket are business people and professionals who need your designs to be able to do their jobs.
6.) Tours
If you live in a popular city that people tend to visit or travel to and you have a lot of unique things in your city, whether uts museums or parks or rivers, you can sell tours.
There are platforms online where people can book excursions and tours whenever it is they are traveling whether it is domestic or international. Some of these tours are hosted by individuals themselves and this is something that Airbnb recently started, I think it is called Airbnb tours. You can actually list yourself as a tour guide and offer tours.
So when people come to your city and they want to explore, you can take them on a fun little tour around the city, treat them to a good time, and as you build your reviews, your ranking on the site will go up, you get more tour requests, you make more money.
7.) Lease your car
If you have a really nice car or even if you don’t have a really nice car and you have one of those everyday cars that doesn’t take a lot of gas, it reliable, that type of car you can lease.
Many people go on platforms to rent cars either for work, if they are in a different city because sometimes they are on a long term contract, maybe two months or three, sometimes people are renting cars to drive ubers so that they can go ahead and fund their life and business. If you have a really nice car, sometimes they could rent it for a special event, video shoot, to take somebody put on a date and so on.
